The tea at the time would have been green and manufactured as a “Gunpowder” Tea. This tea is an exact replica of the teas still drunk in Morocco.

Chai is drunk all of Asia in many different forms. The truest way to drink it is by adding spices to boiling milk along with sugar and very strong black Assam tea. This particular blend is made up from a mixture of spices and fine tippy Assam leaf tea. 

Brew with freshly drawn boiled water, for 3-4 minutes. Experiment with it on its own or you may choose to add milk and/or sugar. If you’re making this at home, try adding a couple of teaspoons of the mix to a pot of milk boiling on the hob to get the real authenticity coming through.
